Mirrung Ngu Wanjarri (Aboriginal
Women Making Changes)
Mirrung has been a funded project since June 2000. The
project is to raise awareness about family violence in Aboriginal
communities by raising self awareness and self-confidence in Aboriginal
women and to work on strategies for improving outcomes for families
experiencing violence. Nancy Walke is the poject worker. Nancy works in
partnership with Aboriginal communities and other service providers.
Mirrung is currently funded by the Commonwealth Department of Family and
Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
Aboriginal Legal Access Program
The Aboriginal Legal Access Program has been extended until
June 2014 and will be undertaking the following tasks:

plan and develop formal legal needs consultation process
with five Bundjalung communities, commence review of and update the
1998 Mabourah Dubay Access to Law Report's findings and track the
current state of Bundjalung communitie's access to the law and to legal
resources
- provide putreach services to two Bundjalung communities for a
half a day per week
Animal Law & Education Project
The Northern Rivers Animal Law & Education Project is a
referral service for pro bono assistance. It assists with development
of law and policy reforms to better protect animals. The project is to
increase community awareness of legal avenues available to protect
animals, raise awareness and educate the public about animal welfare
legal issues.

Lismore Family Relationships
Centre/NRCLC Legal Assistance Partnership
The NRCLC is the legal assistance pertner for clients of the
Lismore Family Relationships Centre who need family law advice about
children's matters.
Free family law advice is provided to clients referred by
the FRC to the solicitor employed by this project.
In certain
circumstances, where the relevant family dispute resolution practioner
who is assisting parents who have seperated cosiders that a legally
assisted family dispute resoution is appropriate, the soliitor
partipates in the family dispute resolution providing advice to one of
the parents. The project partners can arrange for the other parent to
also be represented by a solicitor from another project.
Funding for the project is provided by the Australian
Government Attornery-General's Department.
